Didn't post anything the last couple of days.  Just lazy and doing other things.  Here is my post for today.  Just a little imaginary coastal picture and a little abstract piece.
I think  that I may get back into digital painting again.  Especially for abstract type of work.  I  was playing around with TwistedBrush (art software for the computer) yesterday and was intrigued by some of the brushes in it and with some of the effects one could do with them.  Something  to play with. We'll see

I recently had a conversation with a gallery owner/artist that was interesting to say the least.  I came away with the impression that, according to him, most paintings can't be very good, unless: 1 - they are big (meaning what I assume to be at least 1 or 2 feet by 2 or 3 feet in size or bigger) because little painting can't or won't command a big price, 2 - The artist has spent a great deal of time (I assume days or weeks or months) excuteing the work, it is not really a painting but a quick sketch, and 3 - That unless the above 2 criteria are meant, the work would only be good enough to be displayed or shown in craft style or co-operate type of galleries.  Maybe that is not what he was actually saying, but that sure was, as I said, the impression I got.  My first real exposure to the snobbishness of the commercial fine art world.  I sure hope that all gallery owners don't hold to this type of philosophy.

Enough of that, here is my post for today.  This is different in that I am going to try to do some small abstract type work.  One is more of a seascape done in a sort of abstract sort of way and the other is totally a non-object piece.  Both  are 2.5 x 3.5 inches in size.

I'm back

Back again.  It's been about 3 years since I last posted anything to this blog.  Got discouraged with painting and more or less quit for long stretches of time.  Months at a time but every once in a while I'd paint a couple of little pieces and then quite again.I recently started to paint again a month or so ago and, for me, have been painting up a storm.  I have finally learned that I have to paint for myself only,  It seems that not many others give a hoot about what I do.  I have also decided that from now on I'm going to confine myself to painting only small miniatures.  At this point nothing larger than about 5 x 7 inches.  Been painting small landscapes and seascapes up till now but that is getting a bit boring so I have decided to try to paint some abstracts.  Found out that they are really fun to do and even a little harder to do than painting realistically.  Most of what I am painting does not have a story or insight or lesson to tell, I paint it just because I like to create something pretty.  I also don't title any of my work anymore because I have come to believe that it predispositions peoples reaction to the piece.  Let them make up their own mind as to what the scene or piece is about.  Everybodys life experience is different and images mean different things to different people.  From  now on I'm simply going to number them.  It's a new year so I'll try to keep this blog going and post some new pieces every couple of days.  I make no promises tho.  If anyone who reads this wants to contact me about anything, please do.  Leave a comment and I'll get back to you.  That being said, here are several pieces I have done recently.
