Four more little ones

Here are four more little paintings that I did in the last couple of days. A couple of these were inspired by pictures I saw as I was surfing on the internet. I've never seen the northern lights or been to the south seas so these two used photos as reference images. The mountain and the headland paintings are products of my imagination. The northern light painting is 5 x 7 inches, the tropical beach painting is 4 x 6 inches and the headlands and mountain paintings are 3 1/2 x 5 inches. All I have to take these photos is a web cam so they don't really do justice to the actual paintings. They really do look better in real life I think. As with almost all my paintings these are also done in oils.  

Some more

It's been a week since I put anything up so I better get to it if I want to stay on track.
I am trying to do at least one small painting a day and have managed to average that. I may go a day and not get one done because of other things to take care of but then I may get two or even three done the next day. As I said before, these usually take me anywhere from a half hour to about an hour to do. I think that the longest that I have recently spend on a single piece is about an hour and 45 minutes. That's what I like about doing these small ones, I don't have to spend all day getting one done. The three posted here are ones that I did last week. The two pieces with roads in them are 4 x 6 inches in size and the one of the high mountain lake is 3 1/2 x 5 inches in size. These are not actual places, I just made them up as I painted them.

A couple of whimical quickies

These are two quick little studies that I did the other day. I didn't want to spend a lot of time doing more detailed work so I did something I usually don't do, I simplified. I found that I kind of like to do these little pieces as they usually only take about 15 or 20 minutes to do. Both of these are oil paint. The single mountain with three trees is 4 x 6 inches and the other one is 3 1/2 x 5 inches. Who knows, maybe I'll do a larger painting of one someday.

Todays pictures

These are two that I did last week. The ocean sunset is printout of a digital painting that I did using a program called TwistedBrush. I'm trying to learn how to paint digitally on the computer. TwistedBrush is an easy program to use and I like it better than Painter or Photoshop or ArtRage. I seem to have better (easier) control of blending colors and brush usage. I tend to paint much the same way on the tablet as I do with real paint. Usually all on one layer and without the filters and other tricks that seem so much a part of the other programs. I printed this one out at 6 x 10 inches on canvas. Came out pretty well. The second painting is something that I made up as I painted it. It is 5 x 7 inches painted with oils on a plastic panel. This is another attempt to branch out so to speak, by painting something besides seascapes and mountains.  

Country Raod and Mountain Lake

These are another two small paintings that I did the other day.  One is of a country road in winter and the other is of an imaginary lake in some mountains.  Neither of these was taken from any references and are straight out of my head.   I am starting to do all my little works on plastic panels that don't need to be prepared for painting, simply cut to size and start painting.  Both are done in oils.   Country Road is 5 x 7 inches and Mountain Lake is 4 x 6 inches.  

A couple of more small coast pictures

These two paintings are of the North Washington state coast.  I use a lot of imagination when I do these and so they are usually not of any specific location.  All of the paintings I'll be posting in this blog are done in oil paint on Plas-Tex.  If I do anything on some other material I'll let it be known.  

A few new small paintings

I'm still learning how to use this to post some of my small paintings that I do.  Eventually I'll get it and it'll be second nature but until then this may look a little screwed up so bear with me.   This post is of a small painting that I did of the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse the other day.  It is 5 x 7 inches in size and was done in oils on a plas-tex panel.
